چکیده
Abstract The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) advances studies of solar magnetism through high-precision and accuracy in polarimetry at frontier spatial temporal scales. A system model for polarization response azimuth altitude has been developed to calibrate DKIST instruments. team several new modeling performance-estimation techniques coupled with thorough metrology. These efforts ensure that quality is delivered meet stringent requirements. custom spectropolarimetric calibration was designed, installed, used perform end-to-end the telescope using beam within Cryo -NIRSP instrument. Extensive optical characterization allow reduction systematic errors a detailed includes elliptical retarders. Coating witness samples every relevant optic have measured. Aperture-dependent variations polarizer, retarder, optic-coating performance measured simulate both dependence on field angle optical-system model. Multiple observations on-Sun lamp agree well each other Upcoming multi-instrument are expected be calibrated understanding major error limitations.

15 صفحه اولStatistical approach to systems engineering for the Thirty Meter Telescope
Core components of systems engineering are the proper understanding of the top level system requirements, their allocation to the subsystems, and then the verification of the system built against these requirements. System performance, ultimately relevant to all three of these components, is inherently a statistical variable, depending on random processes influencing even the otherwise determin...
متن کاملInfrared Dual-Line Hanle Diagnostic of the Coronal Vector Magnetic Field
Measuring the coronal vector magnetic field is still a major challenge in solar physics. This is due to the intrinsic weakness of the field (e.g., ∼ 4G at a height of 0.1R⊙ above an active region) and the large thermal broadening of coronal emission lines. We propose using concurrent linear polarization measurements of near-infrared forbidden and permitted lines together with Hanle effect model...
متن کاملCalibration of the CAT Telescope
Due to the lack of test-beams in ground-based γ-ray astronomy, detector calibration has been a major challenge in this field. However, with the use of Cherenkov ring-images due to cosmic-ray muons and of strong γ-ray signals, the CAT telescope could be rather well monitored and understood. Here we present a few oustanding aspects of this work. INTRODUCTION: THE CAT DETECTOR The CAT (Cherenkov A...
متن کاملDeciphering Solar Magnetic Activity: Spotting Solar Cycle 25
We present observational signatures of solar cycle 25 onset. Those signatures are visibly following a migratory path from high to low latitudes. They had starting points that are asymmetrically offset in each hemisphere at times that are 21–22 years after the corresponding, same polarity, activity bands of solar cycle 23 started their migration. Those bands define the so-called “extended solar ...
